Podcasts, Crochets, and WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO THE TIME - OH F*CK
A quick catch up and hello!
The last two weeks have flown by! Last week, I couldn’t swing by your inbox because I had a deadline for Chicago Magazine. I’m dropping this fact to remind you that if you’re looking for a freelance writer for any fun content, hit me up. I love getting paid for saying stupid things.
I have another writing assignment that I need to focus on this week since I need it for the show I’m in TONIGHT. GOD HELP ME.
Here’s the quick list of things you didn’t know you needed to know:
Last week, I was on the
’s podcast with my pal . We talk about being creators and inspiration. Listen to it here, even though I sound like I’m in a cave - SORRY, ANDY! Also, I miss my podcast, Don’t Ruin This For Me, but hope to get it up and running soon! The Love is Blind finale was LIT. AD wore the hideous veil that read “‘Til Death Do Us Part.” I hate Clay forever, but his mom is a star of her own making. Skip the reunion show - Nick and Vanessa never get this right.
Shōgun is on Hulu and I think I’m going to love it, but one of the characters John Blackthorne is speaking in a voice where it sounds like he’s gritting his teeth and trying to speak while having a long prostate exam and I’m not sure I can handle it.
I haven’t read a book in months. My brain has turn into pudding. My book club is expecting me to read the Poisonwood Bible, we’ll see.
Nothing excites me as much as the New York Times Connections.
In the newest way that I distract myself instead of focusing time on an actual writing/book career or booking shows, here are the things I’ve learned to make in the last two weeks.
I really have had a lot of fun learning to crochet, which I picked up in January. I didn’t realize how much I love creating cute plushies and mini toys. I love their stupid little faces and my anxiety is calmed by make them all smile.
Anyway - you always hear about me, tell me what’s going on with you! New shows? New bands? New weird interests like these? TELL ME!
Patryk’s Gripe Corner
My bestie Patryk asked if he could have a corner of my newsletter for griping. I’m obsessed with Patryk’s need to improve everything. He blames it on his Polish culture but, I think it’s his love of dissatisfaction.
Springtime reminder for cyclists. If you’re stopped behind a bunch of cars at a light, no need to wedge yourself between cars to the front. They’re just going to have to pass you up again and be annoyed about it. Stay where you are and move with traffic once the light turns green. Sharing the road means you gotta share it too. (I know Elizabeth will disagree because she thinks everyone should just get out of cyclists’ way.)
That is actually not true because I bike and drive! Though to continue on Patryk’s point, I think it’s very important not to squeeze between a car and the curb in a turning lane. If you’re not in front of a car for full visibility, stay behind the car (especially buses) and let them turn before riding forward. I’ve known of too many people hurt when a car is making a right turn. STAY SAFE OUT THERE!
That cow's flat butt is never not gonna thrill me!
Thanks again for being a guest! It was a lot of fun to talk to you both!
