I don't think it's done poorly but it's definitely depressing with size and body shit and Charly having too much weight in the face and how sad I feel for Victoria!
I love his work because I feel there is always a sense of compassion towards the subjects (in this case the squad) and a lack of judgement or snobbery around these more niche sports. So many of their stories really moved me and I was rooting for them so hard. I wish we could have spent an entire episode with Caroline and Kat and their feelings about life post-retirement (they have the same hip issue as me!!) and I especially related to Caroline's struggles with her injuries and how her body would never be the same (Anna Kate it is a BIG DEAL she's doing the Turkey Trot, be excited for your sister!!). The body/looks criticism is always tough; I love watching dance documentaries but it's terrible how prevalent eating disorders are and I wish they could have called that out harder.
When I went to a Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium in 2019, I was actually blown away by the "Thunderstruck" performance and the half-time show--it's incredible how the squad covers a 100-yard field and makes it look effortless, and the precision and level of skill was amazing. I was like, well shit! I guess I love the Cowboys cheerleaders now, haha, and I'm glad the docuseries captured how hard they work.
Yes - the work is good, I def want to hear about the girls who are gone and obvi there's a lot of Derby feels. But Kelli makes me feel icky while also understanding the nuances of the "life" hahahahaha My issue is more about the patriarchy and the women who carry it.
I need a 15 episode season. I want an entire episode dedicated to the pay, an episode dedicated to just legacies, and an entire episode that’s a montage of the phrase “fueling your body” (eat enough so you don’t pass out but don’t gain A SINGLE POUND because we aren’t changing your uniform an inch)
I can’t stop talking about it and it’s driving everyone around me insane 💅🏻
WAIT HOW IS THE DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS DOCUSERIES A NIGHTMARE?? I think it's so good!! It's the same guy who did CHEER and WRESTLERS.

My job had to listen to a 20 minute recap of it. Hahahahha
OH! And I hate that they are all either married or pregnant by their mid/late 20s (presented as like a common goal)
It's a nightmare for womankind hahahahaah
Where did June go, for real? Summer in Chicago is a vortex. PS: I am also going to write a newsletter about the DCC bc that shit filled me with rage!
CAN'T WAIT TO READ IT.
I both started and abandoned a DCC newsletter hahahaha
It's a hard one!
